Ideal for DIY irrigation
Created by Claber, an Italian company of reference in the world of domestic irrigation, Colibrì System is a complete system that includes everything you need to create a circuit of “underground microirrigation” in a small garden: from 50 to 200 square meters.
The “heart” of the system are the Colibri micro-sprinklers, which also work with a low water pressure, watering the lawn and flowerbeds with a gentle and uniform rain, on different areas (360 °, 180 °, 90 °) and with a range of water easily adjustable. The micro-sprinklers are connected to a ½” polyethylene manifold pipe, with watertight compression fittings and a drainage valve that allows the system to be emptied when winter arrives, to prevent the water inside from freezing.
Colibrì System is managed by a simple battery-powered programmer that connects to the tap, to control with versatility and precision the daily irrigation times: all this, without any hydraulic or electrical connection.
How to design the plant
It is also very easy to design your own Colibri System microirrigation system. First of all, you draw a scale plan of your garden on a squared sheet of paper, then you mark with a compass the areas to be irrigated (circular, semicircular or 90°) trying to overlap them as little as possible, at the same time covering the entire surface of the lawn and flowerbeds. A sprinkler should be positioned at the centre of each area.
At this point, the path of the collector pipe is drawn, connecting the various sprinklers as linearly as possible. On the Claber website, in the “do it yourself” section, you can see examples of projects and find all the technical characteristics of the Colibrì System products. You can also immediately view an online quote for gardens from 50 to 200 square meters, including the battery-powered programmer: and also the cost is really affordable for everyone.
Small garden? Colibri System waters it big time: Easy and cable-free installation
Also on the Claber website, there is a complete guide explaining everything you need to build your own Colibri underground microirrigation system. The collector pipe is deposited in a shallow groove, created by swinging the blade of a spade in the ground: so you do not ruin the lawn and do not move the earth. With pressure fittings, no special tools are needed and the collector pipe is also cut to size, using a common pair of scissors.
When the circuit is completed, before burying it definitively, a test of the plant is made to verify that all the green and flowery areas of the garden are evenly watered: if any area remains uncovered, the range or the angle of the micro-sprinkler is adjusted. At this point you just need to compact the ground above the collector tube and set the programmer to battery, to automatically water our little corner of nature: thanks to Colibri System.
