Exposure and watering

Exposure: grow in a sunny place, even for many hours a day; they do not bear frost, therefore in winter it is best to store them in the house, or in a temperate greenhouse, where the temperature should not fall below 5°C.

Watering: from April to October water weekly, always waiting for the substrate to be dry between one watering and the other. During the winter months, avoid watering the plants, which are left in a cold place; the plants in the apartment should be watered only sporadically, leaving the soil mainly dry. During the vegetative period, provide some specific fertilizer for succulent plants, mixed with the water of the watering, every 15-20 days.

Neoportria, Eryosice – Neoportria: Other tips

Soil: they are cultivated in a very loose and well drained soil; we suggest to use a part of soil, and a part of lapillus or pozzolana. Usually they do not develop very quickly, therefore it is not necessary to repot them often.

Multiplication: by seed, in priamvera; some species tend to tiller, producing numerous basal shoots, which can be detached to produce new plants.

Parasites and diseases: these plants are afraid of waterlogging, which can cause root rot; sometimes they can be attacked by cochineal or red spider mite.
