Fiore orchidea vanda These orchids prefer very bright locations, in the cooler months they like even a few hours of direct sunlight every day, to promote flowering; when the flowers begin to bloom and the climate warms up, it is advisable to keep the venda in a shady but bright place, to avoid unsightly scalding of the leaves. These orchids are very cold and should therefore be kept indoors, away from direct sources of heat, or in a temperate greenhouse, keeping them at an ideal temperature of 20-25° C.

orchidee vanda These are plants that require a lot of ambient humidity, which must be guaranteed with periodic vaporization of distilled water and keeping the pots in trays full of gravel or expanded clay always moist. The absence of humidity could cause the death of the plant in the most serious cases, as the ideal climatic conditions for the growth of our orchid are not guaranteed. Water every 2-3 days, avoiding however to soak the substratum of cultivation and letting the excess water flow freely.

Provide specific fertilizer for orchids every 10-15 days dissolved with water of watering.


Most Vanda orchids are epiphytes and therefore need an incoherent substratum, which best simulates the bark on which they grow in nature; generally, for the cultivation of these orchids, we use a mixture of sphagnum and osmunda fibre in equal parts, to which we add bark in pieces and charcoal, or inert materials such as polystyrene, if we wish, we can place the plants in hanging baskets, even completely without substratum.
