As far as the water supply is concerned, during the whole year it is watered with great regularity, avoiding to let the soil dry up too much, but also to create water stagnations which are not healthy for this type of plant; during the winter months the watering of the Exacum affine will be scarce and quite reduced in time, with the arrival of the summer season let’s intensify the watering, in order to avoid long periods of drought.

These plants need quite rich, but well drained, soils; it is possible to use some balanced universal soil, mixed with a good quantity of sand. An excessively wet soil with stagnant water can favour the development of radical rottenness which must be countered quickly and effectively, in order to avoid even serious consequences. An excessively dry or poorly ventilated climate can be conducive to the spread of mites on the underside of the leaves. In this case, numerous specific products are available to be sprayed on the plant to eliminate the presence of mites.
