lavanda For varieties such as lavender and mosses, it is best to dry them on a surface, which can be cardboard, newsprint or using a wooden board. The plants must be arranged in such a way as to allow the air to circulate freely between them, avoiding unnecessary piles. To speed up the drying of the mosses, it may be useful to form the surface, on which they will be placed, with more sheets of newspaper.

Pine cones are generally already fairly dry when they fall from the plant; however, they may have absorbed moisture once they have fallen to the ground, so placing them on a plane helps to eliminate any residual moisture stains.

Dry Flower Drying Techniques: Drying in Vertical Position

fiori secchi This technique is recommended for mimosa, heather and gypsophila. These plants must be placed in a pot with water, quite spaced between them; in this way, the stems will gradually absorb the water avoiding the crumpling of the leaves and the fading of the colors, which often occurs after dehydration. The vertical position is also suitable for sea lavender and marsh reed; unlike what has been said above, these plant species do not require water for drying; dehydration is in fact spontaneous.

If the plants to be dried have a heavy or large upper part (e.g. buds, berries, … ), it is necessary to use a grid that allows the petiole or stem to be inserted into the holes, so that the fruit / flower remains in the upper part of the grid, leaning against it and not falling back, so that it remains straight. This technique is useful for cobs, cardoons, artichokes, ….

If drying products are used, the process will take a few days to complete.
