fiori secchi This technique is recommended for mimosa, heather and gypsophila. These plants must be placed in a pot with water, quite spaced between them; in this way, the stems will gradually absorb the water avoiding the crumpling of the leaves and the fading of the colors, which often occurs after dehydration. The vertical position is also suitable for sea lavender and marsh reed; unlike what has been said above, these plant species do not require water for drying; dehydration is in fact spontaneous.

If the plants to be dried have a heavy or large upper part (e.g. buds, berries, … ), it is necessary to use a grid that allows the petiole or stem to be inserted into the holes, so that the fruit / flower remains in the upper part of the grid, leaning against it and not falling back, so that it remains straight. This technique is useful for cobs, cardoons, artichokes, ….

If drying products are used, the process will take a few days to complete.
